Laugaskarð swimming pool
One of the oldest and most elegant swimming pools in the country
The swimming pool in Laugaskarð is considered by many to be one of the most beautiful swimming pools in Iceland. The pool is 50 meters long and 12 meters wide, and for a long time, it was the largest swimming pool in the country. It is a so-called flow-through pool heated with natural geothermal steam, which ensures normal acidity and purity of the water. The pool is in a sheltered location facing south, north of the Varmá River. The pool area has a heated, shallow sediment pool, a cold tub, a hydro massage hot tub, and a natural steam bath. In addition, the pool house has a gym run by the sports club Hamrar. To the east of the pool are two beach volleyball courts.
